doubt about cougar pics

to hell with all these barbecuers in Rafter J, I'm going to the elk refuge! They almost seemed too unreal to be true.

The mountain lion photos spreading by e-mail around Jackson Hole this week (and posted here Tuesday night) may not have been shot in Rafter J, as alleged.

Mark Gocke of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department says no sightings have been reported in the suburban subdivision three miles south of town. Gocke received the same e-mail.

It’s highly unlikely that if someone had a mountain lion snarling on their back porch they wouldn’t have reported it to some sort of authority, which would have passed along the tip to Game and Fish.

sonic euphoria

Steve Molitz squeezes a harmony from one of his six keyboards

Chalk up another outrageous night of music for the Knotty Pine.

In a scene that could have been lifted from late night in New Orleans, Particle celebrated Mardi Gras in the Victor log cabin with a bacchanalia of noodle dancing and hyperintense jams.

Contrary to what people may have seen in textbooks, peer-reviewed journals or NASA photographs, the Earth’s spherical, orb-like shape is still a matter of debate, Cubin said.

She attributed the widespread perception that the Earth is round to “unpatriotic liberals, activist judges and a few dead-enders.”
