back in action

Peace Rally ad on page 42 of Planet JHHello? Anybody still out there, reading this? I don’t blame you for deleting the bookmark and tuning out, as spring break gradually turned into summer vacation, and it seemed this site was headed for a permanent rest.

But no. It’s time to rouse from a deep slumber, what with Big Dick in town and the Blackhawks already buzzing around the valley. The revival of JH Underground coincides with a special event planned for Saturday: the Jackson Peace Rally.

After unsuccessfully pressing the Iraqi Parliament not to take its month-long August vacation, Cheney is here to begin his month-long August vacation. And we’ll be outside his door Saturday to give him the welcome he deserves.

The plan is to meet at the Stilson Ranch parking lot (corner of Highway 22 and the Village Road) at 1 p.m. and march 1.5 miles up the pathway to the gates of Teton Pines, where Cheney owns a home. A group of artists and assorted craftsmen and pranksters have been constructing a special work of art to honor the vice president.

Here’s what I can say about this artwork:

  • It’s being kept in a secure, undisclosed location.
  • And it’s not a giant phallus, as many of you have suggested.

More updates to come later this week, so stay tuned!

Check out pages 2 and 42 in this week’s Planet for a story and full-page advertisement.

I’ve just read the articel in the online Jackson Hole news and guide
    about our organized protest tomorrow!

Congratulations! I’m from Switzerland and used to live in Jackson. It
is great to see from abroad that Americans are standing up against
their administration. And that not everyone in the states stands
behind their cabinet. Unfortunately we get to little of those kind of
    news!
    So keep your work up!

    Gruss from rainy Switzerland

get a life, why do the other parties have to make the USA citizens look like we are not together, that we too hate our own goverment. i don’t know about you but I’d like the world to start viewing the USA and it’s citizens as a country full of people who respect each other and it’s government. Maybe if we started working together we could actually start addressing some serious issues. People like you attract negative and help the rest of the countries justify hating us as well.
PUT SOME POSITIVE EFFORT INTO YOUR COMMUNITY, HELP THE POOR, PLANT A GARDEN, CLEAN UP SOME TRASH SOME PLACE………DON’T CREATE MORE TRASH. JUST GET A LIFE & BE PART OF THE COMMUNITY AND THIS COUNTRY. LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!

It’s one thing to taunt me in cyberspace, quite another to mess with me on my own Red-State turf. I’m coming for you, Stanford.

    Stanford,

Don’t stop speaking up and out. Others might not always agree, but I will fight to the death for both of yours right to disagree.

    Bring it on, Dick!

Interesting seeing the Dick Cheney effigy there at Jackson Hole -
http://www.silencedmajority.blogs.com and you can see it.
    Were you there?

  8. js August 13, 2007 7:30 pm

Yes, I was there, putting the noose around Dick’s neck.
Check out http://www.thesnaz.com for a much better video of the whole rally.

WOW! Thought this was a “peaceful” rally, but once our VP was decapitated I realized I was misled. Hope you rally “peacefully” next time and don’t scare off the rest of us. I don’t have to agree with the man, but I have respect for the office he holds. I am an American, after all.

  10. js August 14, 2007 2:21 pm

The decapitation was accidental. At a certain point, you can’t control what people do.
I have no respect for Dick Cheney. He deserves none.

    You idiots

  13. Bobbie McIntosh August 19, 2007 6:51 pm

your website is nothing but propaganda, and you are a sick f..k for talking about the way you enjoyed stuffing Bill O’Reilly’s commentaries up the Dick Cheney “statues” ass. Bill O’Reilly has more brains in his toe nail than you will ever have, you freak. You guys made a bunch of asses out of yourselves for the whole world to see. You have no respect for our President/ Vice President .Some “PEACE RALLY” No wonder the world hates us when our own citizens spread such garbage about our country.

Regarding the comment from suz on Aug. 10.
The comment is typical Republican talking points, ie, stop dividing the country with negativity, support the troops, support the governement…
I’ll bet suz didn’t support government under Clinton. People like suz like to try to convince anyone gullible enough to believe it that the Republicans are the true patriots. Of course, most Americans now realize that the Bush Republicans are as unpatriotic and anti American as anyone can be. The have contempt for democracy and no respect for the offices to which they were elected. Those of us who have raised our voice all of our lives, and for at least the past 5 years on Iraq, are exercising the most patriotic of American duties: challenge corrupt power that threatens the values on which America is based.
