Jazz Fest announces lineup
A blizzard is raging outside, so it seems odd to be writing about searing heat, round-the-clock music and spicy Cajun eats. Then again, it’s never too early to begin planning spring break.
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has released its preliminary music schedule, and whether you’re rolling with the Spread Heads, Parrot Heads, Fish Heads or ‘Fess Head, the lineup is stacked.
First weekend (April 25-27) — Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Sheryl Crow, Billy Joel, Tim McGraw, Al Green, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint
Second weekend (May 1-4) — Widespread Panic, Stevie Wonder, John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, Steel Pulse, The Roots, Carlos Santana, The Raconteurs, Neville Brothers
For the first time since Hurricane Katrina, the second weekend will feature four days of outdoor music, and the Neville Brothers return to close out the festival.
As always, there will be hundreds of musicians performing daily on 10 stages, including all of the New Orleans favorites. A complete listing, as well as travel and ticket information, can be found here.
Tickets cost $40 per day in advance, or $30 for Thursday, May 1.
Once the sun sets, every club in the city hosts another round (or two or three) of music, keeping the bon temps rolling till dawn. This comprehensive site will have night show listings as the festival approaches.
For winter-weary Jackson Hole music fans, there is no better off-season getaway.
The Wyoming flag will be flying high at the fairgrounds as Widespread Panic kicks off the second weekend. Still want more!
