no surrender

the least distasteful GOP optionYou may have noticed, and chuckled like I did, when the John McCain ads began appearing en masse on this site earlier this week.

I have little control over the Google ads on the right of the page. The content usually is generated by Google to match the content of the posts, and I happened to write about Republican Party politics just as McCain claimed a huge win in Florida and embarked on a fund-raising drive.

Last summer, as McCain’s campaign was foundering, I wrote about protesters marching to the gates of Dick Cheney’s vacation home in Jackson Hole, and McCain’s “No Surrender” ads appeared on this page.

Obviously (to everyone but the Google computers), I’m not supporting McCain’s candidacy for president, although I am pleased to see him emerging as the likely GOP nominee. “One Man Has Our Trust” proclaims his latest Internet ad. I admire McCain, but he’d have a lot more of my trust if he hadn’t sucked up to George W. Bush so despicably over the last few years.

By clicking on the McCain ads when they appear, you can not only learn more about his war heroics, but you can help me out and drain his campaign coffers at the same time. So click away!

This isn’t the first time automatically generated Internet ads have sprung up on some odd pages. The New York Times reported this fall, for instance, that Mitt Romney ads were running on gay and lesbian sites, much to his chagrin.

Below is a humorous juxtaposition that appeared here late the other night. The image of a seductive blonde stamped “Certified Christian,” cyber-flirting next to these two, is too much.

Funny what comes up when you write about Republicans!

for a good time talking about God and Cheney, click here!

Well why don’t you try excluding the McCain url from your adsense account. You actually have total control over the ads but refuse to tell your readers the truth.

John McCain is welcome to advertise on this site.

I’ve done my best to screen out as many real estate ads as possible.
