the lowdown on Franti fest

Despite the cold, wind and snow outside, I’m holding out faith for the skies to clear and calm by the time Michael Franti and Spearhead take the stage this evening at Teton Village. If not, we’ll be dancing in the storm.

Here is the schedule, straight from the promoters: The Radiators will play a set starting at 5 p.m., followed by Spearhead at 7.

Festgoers may bring their own beer in cans; bottles are prohibited. Franti asks fans to be responsible, recycle and pick up trash after themselves. There will be plenty of receptacles around the parking lot for recycling.

Don’t overlook the opening set. The Radiators are a great rock band that bring the New Orleans party vibe wherever they go. And stalwarts they are; they have toured for three decades with the same lineup, and never let the fire go out. In fact, this is the band’s 30th anniversary tour.

Not sure if Franti will perform barefoot, as is his custom, in a blizzard. But the former hoops player for USF shouldn’t be fazed by a little snow. We surely will not be.

Konichi-wa, konichi-wa-wa!
