Just to put out the flames: The Headwall slid again this morning but did not smash the building housing ski patrol and Couloir restaurant, according to the resort.
“The slide path went alongside the building — did not do any damage to the building,” resort spokeswoman Lisa Watson wrote in an e-mail.
As of 12:30 p.m., the resort had opened the Bridger Gondola, which lies near the slide path, and other lifts. Click here for lift updates.
Because of new snow, high winds and warm temperatures, ski patrollers had their hands full with avalanche blasting this morning.
The resort statement said, “Given the nature of the snowpack this season, we anticipate heightened activity on a daily basis and increased efforts of avalanche hazard reduction should be considered normal operations. Controlled slides will be an expected result of these efforts.”
Update 2:42 p.m. — The resort clarified its release, saying the slide hit the building and piled snow outside the door to the patrol office, but caused no damage like last week’s avalanche.
