Colbert spots cougar as Lummis eyes meat

If only U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., had taken a scenic float trip down the Snake River, she would know that the pronghorn — the correct scientific name for antelope — is the fastest land animal in North America.

Wyoming’s lone congresswoman was a good sport as Stephen Colbert poked fun at her and the Cowboy, er, Equality State last night.

Would Gary Trauner have been funnier?

living in DC it’s hard to imagine for us, back east, how people like her get elected, it’s ridiculous. Of course, she believes ‘modern’ man walked with Tyrannosauras Rex- and the fossils from the Eocene Age in the Bighorn Basin are 6,000 years old- the beginning of the world- so why are you all out there so surprised at anything she says or does. It’s true be careful what you wish for- you might get it. Best Wishes.

I actually think she took it in stride pretty well.

I hate to correct you, but Pronghorn would be the proper common name. There is no debate about the scientific name: Antilocapra americana.

Funny interview, though that whole cougar thing was a little scary..

Hey Ken, we didn’t all vote for her. I don’t think Cynthia carried Teton County, which is where Jackson Hole is. And at least we get a representative. Nyah!

She does have a sense of humor but her reasons for loving Wyoming are counter to her voting against the most recent Omnibus Public Lands Bill! I hope she will reconsider her vote when it comes up again.

Cynthia, thanks for standing up for what you believe in! Colbert has never called me a cougar….lucky you! :)

I don’t know why Lummis would agree to an interview with that idiot but she certainly held her own. The world would be a better place if that little boy got a hold of a cougar and as for the comment from Teton county above for those that don’t already know, very few Wyoming natives live in Teton, it’s mostly eastern import trash.

Cynthia is courageous, holding her dignified own in the face of invasive federal land regulation, irresponsible overspending, and Cobert’s cheap shot at Dick Cheyney. I’m glad she stood up for home schooling. Cheetah have been clocked at 70mph, antelope [correct term in Wyoming] at 60mph. Pronghorn antelope are known for endurance;cheetahs are sprinters.

It was very clear that Colbert had an agenda, and that agenda was not to interview Rep. Lummis. He wanted to ridicule her and Wyoming. She did remain dignified. Thank you, Cynthia!

I don’t know what you all are talking about, but Cynthia sounded like an idiot. Antelope being the fastest animals? Saying she represents the entire cowboy state? She can hold on to her principals, but those do no good if they are terrible ideas in the first place. I am ashamed that she is our lone representative from Wyoming. Hopefully everyone is able to look past her at the true character of the Wyoming populous. To say the least, I want my ballot back.

Of course Colbert had an agenda – his show is on Comedy Central – not CNN, oops, sorry, I meant Fox News. He’s a comedian not a reporter. What rock do you live under?
