Updated 5/4 with Targhee Bluegrass lineup

Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews plays to the crowd alongside saxophonist James Martin. At 23 years old, Shorty already has become a star in New Orleans.
One of the benefits of going to Jazz Fest each year is it serves as a preview for the upcoming music season — who’s hot, who’s touring, who we can expect to see in the Tetons this summer.
The word going around New Orleans is that Trombone Shorty and The Subdudes tentatively are slated to play the Music on Main free concert series.
(For anyone who has never heard of Trombone Shorty, the New York Times lists his many guest appearances at Jazz Fest, including with Bonnie Raitt.)
Recently confirmed for Targhee Fest are Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Jackie Greene, both of which will join Government Mule for the festival’s opening night, Friday, July 17. Also booked are The Wallflowers, Keb’ Mo’, Jonny Lang, James McMurtry, Bettye LaVette and Carrie Rodriguez.
The Targhee Bluegrass Festival on Aug. 21-23 will feature Yonder Mountain String Band, David Grisman Quintet, Railroad Earth, The Wilders, John Cowan, Darrell Scott, and much more.
Trombone Shorty is a brass prodigy famously photographed playing with Bo Diddley at age 4. He and his band, Orleans Avenue, take bits of familiar songs and stretch them into incendiary funk compositions.
Jackie Greene played Music on Main last summer. He is one of the most highly touted young guitarists in America, having served as an understudy with Phil Lesh and Friends.
Music on Main will feature five free concerts on Thursday nights beginning in late July, held either in Victor or Driggs, Idaho. The series has been a smashing success in Driggs the last two summers, but organizers have been looking into moving the venue to the Victor City Park.
