Meet the president at Old Faithful? Yes, we can!
President Barack Obama and his family will visit Yellowstone National Park next Saturday, Aug. 15, as part of a tour of four Western states.
The first family will spend Aug. 14 in the Bozeman, Mont., area and later will head to Grand Junction, Colo., and the Grand Canyon in Arizona, according to a White House press release.
From the AP:
Spokesman Robert Gibbs says the trip is meant to encourage people to visit the national park system, and it will occur during a “fee-free” weekend for national parks. And, he said Obama also will promote his policies during the trip.
No word yet on whether the family will swing down toward Jackson Hole, but with all the road construction in Yellowstone, the drive would be a headache.

soooo… carpool?
Obama will not have time to do Jackson. And I doubt he will be driving anywhere. He will need to travel by chopper to get to all he has planned. He’ll be doing the great ‘American West driving vacation’ in one day:
“The president will make stops in Bozeman, Mont., and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming on Saturday before flying to Grand Junction. He will then proceed to the Grand Canyon before finishing the day in Phoenix, Ariz.”
I was kidding.
Jim, you need a special font that you use when being sarcastic for reporter-types and other no {non)sense readers!
I was at Yellowstone this past weekend while President Obama was there and the security was crazy. They didn’t let anyone even close where he was. We had to wait a hour and a half before we could go to Old Faithful because the president was eating lunch there so they closed part of it off for him.
Given that this is what’s happening at Obama events, I don’t blame them for being leery of Wyoming:
