Well, the angler-in-chief probably did better with a fly rod than most mountain men would do on the basketball courts of Chicago.
President Obama was not dissuaded by cold rain Friday as he plied the waters of the East Gallatin River near Bozeman. Making good on a campaign pledge to learn to fly fish, he hooked a half-dozen trout but didn’t land any.
Yesterday’s Daily had a summary of the first family’s visit to Yellowstone, but the AP has more details of the fishing trip and Michelle Obama‘s whitewater rafting trip on the Gallatin with daughters Sasha and Malia.
“He insisted that fishermen fish in the rain, so he said, ‘Let’s do it,’” fishing guide Dan Vermillion said. “The weather was really horrendous. We were all real cold at the end of the day.
“I found him to be a real good listener. He really wanted to learn about the whole experience of fly fishing,” said Vermillion, who runs the Sweetwater Fly Shop in Livingston.
Next time: the Snake!

The Snake? Are you kidding! Cheney would have a team of Blackwater commandos booby trap “his” river for an “accident” so quick it’d make your head spin.
