So, today is Goatstock.
Festivities are under way at Big Wally’s place in Red Top Meadows, the Yasgur’s Farm of Jackson Hole. The crowd must be half a thousand strong.
The list of raffle prizes and auction items is impressive. If you’ve ever wanted to go heli-skiing, here’s a chance to score an amazing Alaska trip for two: six nights of lodging, two days in the devil’s mini-van guided by Jon Hunt, two days of snowcat skiing, Alyeska lift tickets and more. Retail value: $7,700. Get out there and bid, or do so online.
For background on how this community benefit for Jimmy Zell came together, I defer to this story by Ben Cannon.
Headliner Mandatory Air is not due to play until around 9 p.m., and shuttles will be running from Stilson, returning as late as 2 a.m. The party bus leaves the Brew Pub at 10:30 p.m. for those on the late shift.
Full moon, snow in the forecast, antelope roasting on a spit: You can’t ask for a better Wyoming fall evening. Dance to keep warm!
