Saints fans have been singing Who Dat?! for 27 years, and their Super Bowl is finally here.
• They have shot up big-screen TVs.
• They have jumped for joy on Bourbon Street.
• They have trained their dogs to cheer.
Lord, if there is any justice in heaven, the Saints will win the big game.
The funniest thing I heard all week is that many fans did not go to Miami because when the Saints win, ain’t no better place to party than New Orleans.
May your houses be filled today with the sounds of brass bands blaring.

Me oh my oh, I’m still trying to adjust to this bizarro world in which the Saints are Super Bowl champions.
The onsides kick to start the second half was one of the greatest plays in NFL history, and the moment of hoodoo I had been waiting for. Unknown special teamer Chris Reis (#39) will go down in Super Bowl lore as the Saint who miraculously came out of the scrum with the ball.
He told Peter King of SI afterward:
“So I just figured I better hang onto it for dear life,” he said. “The Colts were punching at it and grabbing for it, trying to get it out. But I didn’t care if they broke all my fingers. There was absolutely no way in the world I was going to let go of that ball. That was our ball.”
Another incredible play was the 2-point conversion by Lance Moore, who caught the ball, spun and extended it over the goal line before hitting the ground. That gave the Saints a 7-point lead, putting extra pressure on Peyton Manning to lead his team to a touchdown.
QB Drew Brees deservedly was showered with accolades, but it was these types of unheralded plays — guys like Pierre Thomas and Shockey fighting for extra yards, the tackling of Jonathan Vilma — that showed the Saints were playing for something much bigger than themselves, and they wanted it more than the shellshocked Colts.
Coach Sean Payton may one day have his own statue next to Gen. Beauregard in City Park, such a hero of New Orleans is he.
This video captures the elation in the Big Easy:

Could the Cubs win the World Series?
In less than two years we have elected Barack Obama president, and the Saints have won the Super Bowl. What’s the next minor miracle we will see?
