Over at The Mountain Murmur, which I also edit, there’s a pretty entertaining poll going on to settle a contest for a free Cloudveil jacket.
Three women have made the finals. One is pledging to ski a tram lap in her bikini, another is promising to don a Mongolian Sasquatch suit on the dance floor, and the third would get married in the jacket atop Bell Rock in Sedona.
People love their Cloudveil gear.
So far it’s a duel between the bikini ski and Sasquatch. The winner must film the activity in question. Voting closes at noon Wednesday. Click on the poll on the top right of the page to vote.
Reading some of the entries from far and wide, it occurred to me that people’s devotion to Cloudveil goes far beyond the functionality of the clothing. There’s a real emotional attachment to Jackson Hole, where the gear is designed and tested. For a business owner, that’s power of place.

who owns cloudveil now? i heard spyder just sold the company.
“Windsong Brands LLC of Westport, Conn., has acquired Cloudveil Mountain Works, the Jackson Hole, Wyo.-based outdoor apparel firm, from Spyder Active Sports Inc.”
Ironic, given the last line of this post. More to come shortly.
I wonder if they get the rights to all the super sick names like Hoback and 4Pines and HYW 22. Only a local company would use those right.
JK. I must admit I have a Cloudveil Jacket and I love it.
