Downfall of Internet parody

The AP had a hilarious story over the weekend about Google removing all the Hitler “Downfall” parodies on YouTube because of a copyright claim.

Nothing could have breathed more life into a played-out meme than corporate meddling.

Naturally, up went the video of Hitler reacting to his being removed from YouTube. Catch it before it’s deleted, too.

That might be the best one yet.

    Most excellent.

I actually saw this movie in the theater when it came out. It was decent enough, but a little boring. If someone had told me that it would spark a youtube sensation that would last for almost three years running, I wouldn’t have believed it. It amazes me that the owners of the film copyright would object to this rather dull movie becoming a cult internet favorite. I still think the best spinoff was the first one I saw, when Hitler reacts to the Giants defeating the Cowboys in the ’07-’08 divisional playoff game. Let’s hear some more reports from Jazzfest, Jim!
