Schools zone: Widespread bassist to thump out rotund rhythms at The Spud.

Update 7/3: The show is sold out. A limited number of additional tickets will be released at noon Sunday at Big Hole Music in Driggs.

Here’s the lowdown for Sunday’s Fourth of July concert by Widespread Panic at The Spud: Parking lot opens at 9 a.m. Tailgating welcome. Gates to the venue will not open till 5 p.m., and the show is scheduled to start fairly promptly at 7.

On-site camping is available for $30 per car, good for up to five people. Each camper must have a concert ticket, too. Fans may camp beginning Saturday night and purchase camping passes on site.

The show is nearly sold out. Online sales will close tonight at midnight, but tickets ($38) still will be available at Tobacco Row in Jackson, Big Hole Music in Driggs and the Knotty Pine in Victor. A limited number may be sold at the gate. More venue rules can be found here.

For those looking for a warm-up on the Idaho side, the Knotty Pine is hosting its 15th annual “God Bless America Festival” from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Owner Brice Nelson is smoking a record 1,000 pounds of pork. LunKuR, Jet Black Ninja Funkgrass Unit, The Lonesome Heroes, Kole Moulton and Lonely Road, and Chanman Roots Band will perform outside.

Of course, if wine and cheese are more your taste than PBR and pork, there’s also the Grand Teton Music Festival’s free Music in the Hole concert at the middle school field, the Jaycees fireworks display at Snow King, more music and pyrotechnics in Teton Village, and parties too numerous to name. Consult The-J-List for a guide to festivities and upcoming community events.

Ready to watch it all go down!

    Hope it rocked!
I was just thinking the other day about Snow King ’93, and the concierge who was holding so much more than a ticket. . .
