For Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros come May, “Home” will be the Pink Garter Theater in Jackson.
The popular group will play the Pink Garter on May 29. Tickets go on sale at noon Friday.
The 10-member ensemble is best known for the song “Home,” from its 2009 debut album, which became a pop hit and was used for NFL commercials. The group released its sophomore record, Here, to much acclaim last year and is about to release its third album.
The Magnetic Zeros are led by singer-songwriter Alex Ebert. (Edward Sharpe is a messianic character he invented.) Ebert’s solo album, Alexander, on which he played all of the instruments, was one of the best albums of 2011.
Ebert also rallied in support of environmental activist Tim DeChristopher, playing outside the courthouse where DeChristopher was tried for monkey-wrenching Bush-era oil and gas leases. Ebert made a video for “Let’s Win” at the protest.
